| source : www.groupereflect.net
Other statistics highlighted by the ONS included the fact that 30.1 million people (60% of the population) said they used the Internet every day. Mobile Internet usage had also increased, predictably, with 45% accessing the web on the move, up from 40% in 2009. 2.7 million had used wireless hotspots, up from 0.7 million in 2007. | source : www.techwatch.co.uk
n July, Google announced the launch of the Android App Inventor. App Inventor uses building blocks, of sorts, to help you design your own Android applications. Like Scratch, the App Inventor has roots at MIT, as the project was led by Professor Harold Abelson, quoted in a New York Times interview as saying that the goal of the App Inventor "is to enable people to become creators, not just consumers, in this mobile world."
App Inventor is still in closed beta, but it was mentioned in our survey of teachers' most anticipated back-to-school tech tools. If you're interested in App Inventor, the Google Group is very active. | source : www.google.com

n a recent post by Marshall Kirkpatrick for ReadWriteWeb, he reviewed the top reasons why people check in to location networks. To summarize:
- Finding people
- Chance meetups
- Badges/Points/Gifts
- Special offers and coupons
- Local tips/discovery
- People tracking
- Personal history/Diary
I would add one more. Whether it’s said or simply a subconscious act, it is the essence of social networking universally. People check in as a form of social currency and the resulting capital and the value we place on it is different network by network. As such, it governs how we interact with objects and one another and also defines our net worth based on how we earn, spend, lose, and build capital. | source : www.briansolis.com
This is a collection of mobile resources from Mike Reilley and the Poynter Institute's Regina McCombs, Dave Stanton and Damon Kiesow, as well as many others. A list of mobile reporting tools appears at the end of this page. Most apps are tailored to the iPhone but have versions available for many other smart phones, too. | source : www.journaliststoolbox.org
